Funding from Private Sources
Tapping into a private sector income stream could be very advantageous for a nature-recovery project. Ecosystem Services are increasingly sought by large companies seeking to 'offset' their impact, or boost their brand's Social and Environmental reputation; some companies are committed to mitigating their carbon footprint, or contributing to their local communities, while others may see a genuine benefit to their operations (e.g. water companies can save money and resources in hte long term by using natural filtration and flood management solutions).
Some more examples of possible private sector income streams are below:
Entrepeneurial Income Streams
There are many ways that you could develop diverse income streams alongside your conservation or restoration project, which are sustainable and either do not impact nature and the environment, or are additionally beneficial. See left for some examples.
! NOTE!
A habitat bank secured with a Conservation Covenant, must be for the public good and have a conservation purpose. Therefore some of the income streams listed above may not be considered acceptable under a Cons Cov. Altering the agreement may not be possible, or be very timely and costly; so it is essential to plan ahead e.g. exclude a section of the land from the conservation covenant agreement, to allow flexibility for development.
